Shared Pain (a poem)

shared pain

i liked you because i thought we had the same shared pain: divorced parents, siblings who only see one parent, the whole thing

but you glorified the figures in your life

while I used them as introspection

our shared pain became the very thing to repeat the history we came from

arguing in the basement

arguing in my room

where didn’t we argue?

passive aggression

who is to blame though?

this was normal for us
because we were raised to think that this is love
